Department of Lexicography

The central department of the Institute is the Department of Lexicography where fundamental scientific and professional activities are carried out. The staff members are predominately lexicographers.

The basic structural forms in the performance of lexicographic work are editorial offices, which are established depending on the need of specific projects and according to the areas. Thus according to projects there are the following editorial offices present: Croatian Encyclopaedia, Croatian Biographical Lexicon or the Dictionary of the modern Croatian language; according to areas there are editorial offices for Language, Visual Arts and Cartography.

Within the Department of Lexicography there is Library and Documentation Department and the Proofreading Department.

Department for Informatisation develops programme elements of informatisation of lexicographic work, monitors and supervises the transfer of lexicographic works into the system of digital and on-line works.
